Campus Communications Specialist

The Campus Communication Specialist provides campus-specific marketing and communication support as outlined and directed by the Marketing and Communication Department. The position provides high-quality internal and external communication across a variety of digital and print mediums.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Responsible to the Director of Communication and has a support responsibility to all other departments and College personnel as necessary.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Produce high-quality written and visual content for digital and print communications.
  • Provide communication counsel to the campus president and other administrators as necessary.
  • Support College-wide communication efforts as established and directed by the Marketing & Communication Department, including providing campus-specific communication support.
  • Assist in implementing College-wide communication efforts as established and directed by the Marketing & Communication department, including providing campus-specific communication support.
  • Maintain relationships with key departmental contacts to ensure awareness of campus activities and operations.
  • Provide appropriate campus-specific assistance with brand identity and management as directed by the Marketing & Communication Department.
  • Identify opportunities for community visibility consistent with the College-wide Marketing-Communication Plan and assist with implementation as appropriate, edit and review articles, news releases, marketing materials and other copy in accordance with College Marketing-Communication Plan; coordinate approval with campus sources as directed by the Marketing & Communication Department.
  • Maintain current knowledge of social media, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications and promotional methods and techniques.
  • Provide regular photography and videography support at various campus events throughout the year.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated experience in writing, editing and posting digital content in a variety of digital mediums.

Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality photos and video for use in a variety of digital mediums.

Demonstrated experience in posting digital content on the Web and social media.

Experience using HTML.

  • Ability to:
    • Perform assigned duties with frequent interruptions;
    • Maintain concentration for significant periods of time;
    • Utilize personal computer, various software programs, other necessary equipment and general office equipment;​​​
    • Calculate complex numerical data;
    • Analyze and resolve difficult problems;
    • Communicate effectively;
    • Work various hours as job requires

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field. One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Perform sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature controlled office setting.
  • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
