Job Description: Responsible for managing the design process from concept to completion while partnering with the Director to ensure alignment on priorities and artwork direction. Consistently shop and research marketplace, including our competitors for inspirations and opportunities in product, fabric, wash, color. Expert knowledge of Active markets and Girls wear markets. Research identify and present print & color trend direction. Actively participates in the conceptual development of family print story and seasonal direction. Ensures the print is consistent with market trends and business strategy. Ensure print is being designed within cost parameters. Create and present design boards for each season showcasing print direction. Works closely with design partner to ensure print point of view is in line with overarching seasonal direction. Create artwork and prints for each season. Be an expert in Active and girls wear print creation with a distinctive hand that is old navy appropriate. Use digital programs Adobe photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, In Design. Color reduction pro & cleaning pro, Ned Design & repeat Ned Easy coloring pro. Print production for activewear and excellent knowledge of active fabrics. Seasonal travel for research and/or product development is required. Manage an assistant designer.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Textile design/ graphic design/Illustration or a related field and 5 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Experience and/or education must include:
Expert knowledge of Adobe photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Ned color reduction pro & cleaning pro, Ned Design & repeat Ned Easy coloring pro;
CAD systems/software/printers
Must have working knowledge of InDesign and Miro;
General expertise of print and textile designs, color matching and creating of colorways
Technical Knowledge: Creating artwork with multiple layers of halftones, with an understanding on how these prints translate from digital to physical Trend Forecasting; sublimation and rotary printing processes; CMYK printing; Knowledge of how different fibers and fabrics take prints, and how to design into the inevitable variability among them; Understanding & execution of print repeats for mills & vendors
Trend Forecasting- researching markets in order to identify new print trends, color, fabric and Identify how they appropriately relate to the brand/ consumer; creation and presenting design boards for each season showcasing print direction to gain commercial alignment.
Strong design and conceptual skills: Strong illustration, painting and digital art skills to be applied to fabric; Expertise in crafting repeats; Research skills to identify and present; presentation skills to create mood boards
Product development from conceptualization to finished design for textiles
