JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Hardware Development Engineer in Cupertino, California. Develop, design and prototype optical and electronic hardware. Utilize optical simulation and multi-physics simulation in prototyping. Utilize physical simulation tools, such as Zemax, Code V, Comsol and Ansys to analyze, design and optimize thermal, electromagnetic, optical and mechanical characteristics of hardware components and systems. Develop custom simulation tools to solve new design problems. Utilize fast prototyping technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, milling, lathing and diamond turning to build prototypes. Design and build optical calibration systems and procedures. Design optical components such as lenses, diffusers and filters. Design optical systems such as cameras and projectors. Use 3D modeling softwares to design mechanical components. Develop software such as solvers, ray-tracers, image processing modules and calibration suites. Contribute with innovative solutions in product design. Understand system-level impact of design choices. Communicate, negotiate, and present designs.
