JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Manufacturing Design Engineers in Cupertino, California. Provide technical support for color matching and color reproduction including training and identifying resources and opportunities. Evaluate, implement, and standardize the visual and instrumental color evaluation procedures and practices. Develop, implement, maintain, and provide training on color development process and color evaluations. Research new dyes and pigments that satisfies the product’s requirements and implementing tighter control. Present analysis to key decision makers that will be used to make commercial, cosmetic and design commitments. Provide support to the vendors to match, pilot and scale up new color / cosmetic finishes for mass production. Develop novel color, gloss, translucency and texture measurement techniques to meet Apple's new product needs. Utilize chemical, mechanical and coloration techniques to meet challenging new color targets. Plan and execute studies to confirm process capability to achieve high yields. Evaluate the supplier's color matching capability and address the shortcomings relative to company needs. Travel required 15%
