JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Product Design Engineer in Cupertino, California. Research and refine new technologies for use in the design, development and analysis of consumer electronics, computing and smart home systems, products and interfaces. Conceive and design mechanical components that satisfy product concept goals and engineering needs. Use computer aided design (CAD) to generate 3D mechanical components and assemblies. Use CAD to generate dimensioned and toleranced drawings for release to vendors for component manufacture. Analyze part designs with reference to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). Perform Statistical Tolerance Analysis on parts and part assemblies to insure appropriate part dimensions and tolerances. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on parts to insure they have sufficient mechanical integrity for design forces. Perform Statistical Analysis on large data sets to identify statistically significant factors to optimize, troubleshoot parts. Work with internal cross functional teams to insure designs meet all team requirements such as electrical, safety, and tooling. Develop and present slides outlining complex design issues in understandable terms to upper management teams.
