JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Machine Learning Engineers in Cupertino, CA. Research, design, develop, implement, and debug search ranking and search retrieval techniques. Analyze requirements, issues, and opportunities by debugging failure cases. Understand product requirements, translating them into modeling tasks and engineering tasks. Collect human-graded training data for modeling, including designing human annotation tasks, reviewing quality of human annotations, and converting human annotations to target labels. Create training data based on user engagement signals, design map-reduce jobs to extract engagement signals from usage logs, design heuristic rules to convert engagement signals to target labels. Utilize Spark, Hadoop MapReduce, Hive, Impala to perform distributed data processing. Generate features based on user engagement signals by aggregating and filtering data from usage logs. Build machine learned models for search retrieval, query rewriting, ranking, and query understanding problems. Deploy and integrate models in the search runtime production system. Debug the systems being created.
