JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Systems Design Engineer in Cupertino, CA. Perform evaluation of prototypes and hardware/software (HW/SW) systems on different 2G/3G/4G wireless technologies for the latest iPhone and iPad.  Run focused experiments to test radio frequency/over-the-air (RF/OTA) performance. Collaborate with HW/SW system development teams and other cross functional teams to identify issues impacting user equipment (UE) cellular performance. Perform deep dive analysis into internal logs to understand and identify root cause of any system issues. Perform field testing on pre-release HW. Evaluate and characterize performance of the devices in live network. Utilize RF background in 4G/LTE technology to analyze issues and propose next steps. Exchange ideas, interact with external teams, and create a cohesive environment to execute tasks effectively. Utilize testing methodologies and debug capabilities for 4G/LTE and other wireless communication systems to improve overall performance of Apple hardware. Utilize radio protocol stack knowledge to perform comprehensive technical reviews of new cellular features and disseminate it to the field engineering organization. Prepare test plans and device methodologies to test new cellular features in Field Environments. Travel required: 30%.
