JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Product Design Engineer in Cupertino, California. Design and support mechanical systems inside apple watch, from early concept through manufacturing and early field performance. Create 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 2D manufacturing drawings. Design and aid with validation plans for all mechanical systems within apple watch. Address mechanical and environmental reliability, manufacturing process variation, and new materials and processes. Design mechanical systems around engineered sub-system modules (displays, batteries and PCBAs). Integrate Industrial design intent into the mechanical design, as well as pursue consistent and repeatable cosmetic quality in parts, precision assembly, and finish. Define the mechanical requirements for other engineering groups and engineer to system-level performance specifications of those modules. Stay abreast of state of the art materials and methods that can be applied to apple products to improve its user-facing product benefits. Derive the detailed failure analysis and corrective engineering actions on mechanical failures encountered during product development and all that entails. Travel required 15%.
