Reliability Improvement FRACAS Engineer

Bombardier Mass Transit Corporation, Reliability Improvement FRACAS Engineer, Union City, CA. Gather and analyze data to develop and enforce action plans to improve rail fleet reliability performance as a part of Bombardier’s Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process. Proactively identify and communicate to the team any failure pattern in advance, and launch fleet surveys on specific type of problems to better understand the root case and the nature of the failure. Support the Engineering and Quality Assurance (QA) departments and the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process by identifying, developing, and initiating rail fleet reliability improvement. Review incident reports and participate in identifying root causes with the Engineering team. Support the Product Introduction (PI) Manager at the Failure Review Board (FRB) by providing evidences and details regarding failure/corrective actions and documenting and sharing the results of failure analysis. Determine the appropriate analytical methodology to be used for each failure analysis, and identify and confirm failure trends of the fleet or subset of the fleet. Develop and share a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on reliability performance. Coordinate with on-site and Project Teams, as well as the FRACAS Analyst, to set priorities related to containments and modification activities to be worked on. Ensure that the FRACAS process is deployed and the information-gathering mechanisms are functional at the site. Follow up with the implementation of the critical reliability improvement actions. Participate in regularly scheduled site meetings with clients and internal teams. Provide training to the on-site personnel on FRACAS process and share pertinent information related to reliability improvement activities to the Project Team. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.𔃃:00 p.m.).  

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field, and 10 years of related work experience. Employer will accept a 3 or 4-year Bachelor’s degree.

Of the required experience, must have 8 years of experience with the following: Identifying, developing, and initiating rail fleet reliability improvement; detailing the failure and corrective actions and documenting and analyzing the failure; developing a set of KPIs on reliability performance; identifying failure pattern and launching fleet surveys to conduct root cause analysis; rail vehicle RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) number calculation; leading review meetings with end-client’s executives; and utilizing Microsoft Excel.

Travel up to 10% required.
