JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Software development Engineer - Firmware in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Trace analysis and isolate issues to one FW component. Browse FW source code to triage and isolate issues. Open tracking ticket with detailed description of the issue and assign it to component lead. Build modem code on particular baseline FW and build recipe. Execute test cases and collect passing/failure traces. Triage the failure traces and open a tracking ticket with detailed issue description and move the ticket to the relevant components. Support any tracing issues from FW components, by analyzing and provide changes/fixes. Support crash analysis by making sure crash dump file is stored and required binary files are available for crash extraction. Execute code coverage tools and raise tracking tickets for static/dynamic coding errors and move the ticket to components. Participate in virtual platform, FPGA platform and post-silicon platform bring-up, which include bring-up bench setup, board setup, bring-up execution. Open tracking tickets for issues and move the tickets to components with all relevant teams in bring-up execution. Work on automation tools for automated ticket duplication, code coverage. Set up callbox configuration, cabling, use of debug equipment (T32 debugger, oscilloscope, signal generator). Analyze, design, program, debug, modify and validate software. Troubleshoot code for FW (IC embedded code) applications outside of the operating system. Typically program in machine language, assembly language and high level languages (e.g., C, C++, Python). $115,000.00 - $177,000.00/yr.
