JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Hardware Development Engineers in Cupertino, California. Design, implement new image algorithms for advanced display pipeline. Perform Front of Screen evaluation. Analyze technical feasibility for proposed algorithms. Develop concepts and applications to propel Apple displays to new levels of quality and power efficiency. Design innovative display pipeline algorithms by using image processing concepts. Analyze technical feasibility of proposed algorithms by performing memory bandwidth requirement analysis and compute operations requirement analysis. Translate proposed algorithm into MATLAB model. Perform error analysis using MATLAB model. Implement MATLAB model in software and/or hardware for real-time performance. Perform front-of-screen validation of algorithms on actual product panels. Tune model parameters in order to mitigate front-of-screen visual artifacts like noise and banding. Write engineering specification of developed IP to support hardware implementation engineers. Utilize deep understanding of image processing and related algorithms to develop display pixel - and backlight pipeline. $143,956 - $196,500/yr.
