JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Data Engineers in Cupertino, CA and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Build tooling, frameworks, and systems to support Big Data operations. Drive large projects from inception to production implementation and support. Use independent discretion to apply technical principles to complex problem. Build tools and frameworks to leverage big data technologies in the Scala, Java, and Python ecosystems. Construct data pipelines to support huge data volume movement and processing. Ensure our systems work at scale via profiling and performance tuning our systems as well as open-source big data systems such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Cassandra, and Iceberg. Trouble-shooting bugs in open-source big data systems in systems built at a massive scale. This requires working knowledge on the internals of these systems and a familiarity with the code. Contribute to high quality releases by building automated unit, integration and acceptance tests for all work produced. Provide technical support for data scientists for open-source technologies as well as own tools. Provide support and mentorship for junior engineers to help with their coding, testing and production support skills. Achieve a demonstrated level of technical depth and become a subject-matter expert across our systems as well as big data open-source projects that we leverage and be a go-to-person within and outside of our team in these technologies and systems. $218,608.00 - $278,000.00/yr.
