Product Engineer, Lam Research Corporation, Fremont, CA. Manages new product introduction and production support engineering for smart sensor development after transfer from design to in-house or outsourced production. Interfaces with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems. Develops and sustains process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields. Develops new or modified designs for machine vision products, support integration with process tools, and build AI/ML capabilities based on data collected for monitoring and control of processes. Defines testing requirements for production-readiness qualification, reviews and defines process of record (POR) at parts suppliers, assesses suitability of materials used in production, and supports field issues related to the hardware or software. Coordinates design reviews, risk assessments, and POR reviews with engineering personnel to ensure successful product release and follow Lam product design business processes. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate hardware and software limitations and assesses risk of field failure according to customer process conditions. Telecommuting permitted 100% - may live anywhere in the U.S.

40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. $122,395 - $181,000/yr.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside in California and most states. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Master’s degree in Materials science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field plus 2 years of experience in product engineering.

In the alternative, employer will accept a PhD. degree in Materials science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Of the required experience, must have education or experience in 3 of the following: electro-mechanical system design and manufacturing; systems engineering and integration; statistical methods for modeling multivariate data sets; statistical process control; plasma modeling; vacuum systems; machine learning; computer vision; and/or semiconductors or product design experience.

Must have education or experience in designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining capital equipment test apparatus.

Must have education or experience in heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, and basic mechanics of materials.

Must have education or experience with image processing via algorithms, including OpenCV or PyTorch.

Must have at least education or experience in 1 of the following software/programs: CAD; OrCAD; LabView; MATLAB; JMP; OpenMP; Fortran; C; C#; Python; CCM+; Fluent; Comsol; Origin; or Maxwell.

Experience may be gained while in graduate school.
