JOB TITLE: Tools and Automation Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: APPLE INC has the following available for Tools and Automation Engineer (REQ# 200604257) in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop and execute software tests to identify software problems and their causes. Test system modifications to prepare for implementation. Document software and application defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software or web developers. Create and maintain databases of known defects. Participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, operational characteristics, product designs, and schedules. Test iOS, Android applications and cloud-based client and server technologies to ensure the quality of Apple music applications and interoperability with the entire Apple Music ecosystem. Define qualification strategies and plan for assigned areas and features by assessing the features or functionality and deciding what tests will appropriately ensure release level quality, then executing the work and storing the results in internal tools. Work on data analysis and create dashboards to track test coverage through Splunk, Python, internal tools and utilizing a data science skillset. Test native auto implementations of Apple Music in vehicles or test benches/head units utilizing internal tools for tracking and reporting. This requires verbal and written interaction via Cisco Webex and email. Run and maintain automation for various parts of Apple music application to check the application for defects using Python and internal tools. Test updated software to find defects manually using Android Studio and internal tools for guidance and tracking the results via internal tools. Test in various platforms to ensure proper functionality throughout the ecosystem including Android, iOS, web and automobiles. Create plans (test suites) to track implementation of new existing features and functionality. Manipulate data for reporting via dashboards, email, and internal communication channels by creating CSV files in the Numbers app, uploading via internal tools displayed in our Splunk dashboard and Slack channels.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $149,509 - $205,500/yr. and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
