JOB DESCRIPTION: APPLE INC has the following available for Machine Learning Engineer (REQ# 200605639) in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Implement, train, and optimize machine learning models with the application of unsupervised and supervised learning techniques including classification, regression and artificial neural network algorithms using open-source libraries such as Scikit- Learn and Apple-owned frameworks such as CoreML and CreateML. Apply reinforcement learning techniques to personalize suggestions including application, people and action recommendations for user experience on Apple software systems. Deploy machine learning models using Python, Objective-C, and Swift for on-device inference, which involves applications of software engineering to write clean, readable, and testable code. Collaborate with Quality Engineers to implement test coverages, which involve using Objective-C and Swift to write unit-tests code for software testing of the source code and model integration tests to ensure optimal model performance in the highest standards for user satisfaction. Identify and select appropriate datasets and data representation methods, which involve the identification of data sources and implementation of a data collection algorithm to collect privacy-preserved data from users for model training. Apply statistical and mathematical skills, including regression analysis, and using tools such as Python language and SQL-based querying tools to derive insights from large data sets for optimization of model performance and improvement of existing features on Apple operating systems (iOS and macOS). Plan and implement A/B testing and experimentation of various on-device machine learning models using subsets of the user population to understand the performance of the deployed models and optimize performance. Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams, such as Privacy Engineers, to ensure privacy preserved and secured data collection to handle the collection and use of private/sensitive data for model training and optimization.
