JOB DESCRIPTION: Apple Inc. has multiple positions available for Software Development Engineer in Cupertino, California. Design, develop and debug software for multimedia playback. Develop features, analyze performance and tune algorithms to optimize streaming media playback experience. Work on Apple's mobile and embedded platforms along with software stacks on 3rd party platforms such as Smart TV’s and consoles to combine cutting-edge software engineering techniques with next-generation hardware. Review software source code to identify and fix defects and performance issues. Analyze complex software performance problems and implement optimizations. Program and develop an innovative media playback engine foundation using C/C++. Build on core technologies such as Core Media and AVFoundation. Implement complex routing behaviors and state-machines handling audio, video, and their associated content protection pipelines supporting commonly used DRM systems. Perform multithreaded programming in real-time systems. Debug the systems being created. Drive adoption of streaming technology with Apple partners. Evaluate existing video streaming implementation and provide feedback to media partners.
