JOB TITLE: Software Development Engineer - Test

JOB DESCRIPTION: APPLE INC has the following available for Software Development Engineer - Test (REQ# 200607916) in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Build detailed evaluations enabling a deep understanding of algorithm performance and use case suitability. Design and build tooling to generate detailed evaluations of machine learning algorithms on large datasets. Build metrics, develop automation, run hands-on qualitative tests, and perform failure analysis. Develop failure analysis processes and benchmarks to support quantitative analysis of 2D and 3D computer vision algorithms. Perform qualitative and feature tests for various machine learning algorithms. Enable automation of large workloads on compute clusters comprising a variety of hardware fabrics. Create data pipelines to ingest complex datasets for evaluation of interrelated machine learning algorithms. Develop innovative methods to scope data gaps in machine learning algorithms and propose statistically efficient ways to source data that can maximally improve the performance of next-generation computer vision applications. Utilize a combination of Python scripts, statistical analysis, and common machine learning metrics to rigorously evaluate the performance of computer vision models. Analyze model outputs against ground truth labels and diverse datasets to assess accuracy, precision, recall, and other relevant metrics. Utilize Numpy and Pandas to preprocess and prepare datasets, ground truth labels, and metadata for model evaluation. Clean and standardize data to ensure consistency and accuracy in model assessment. Perform statistical analysis using Python to assess the fairness and bias of computer vision models. Investigate potential biases in model predictions across demographic groups and develop strategies to mitigate biases and ensure fairness.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr. and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
