Geotechnical Engineer (multiple openings)

TITLE:     Geotechnical Engineer (multiple openings)

DUTIES: 
Work directly with key accounts throughout the United States to manage day to day issues on utility scale PV projects from the development stage to construction support. Manage all decisions relating to Geotechnical Engineering for Nextpower’s projects including but not limited to analyzing geotechnical reports, foundation sizing, pile load testing, soil corrosion analysis, and various geotechnical engineering tasks and decisions to support project quoting and calculation packages. Interface with engineering teams located in the US, Mexico, Spain, Australia, and India, as well as Sales, Project Management, and R&D teams at Nextpower’s offices around the world. Responsibilities include the following: assisting in analyzing Geotechnical Reports, Corrosion Analysis, and Soil Risk Analysis; assisting in project development phase; reviewing pertinent site information, calculations, and cost estimation; and reviewing Geotechnical reports and recommending design parameters.  Calculate skin friction, end bearing and lateral resistance from Geotechnical reports. Prepare foundation calculation packages and drawings.  Provide construction support; respond/prepare to RFIs and submittals; assist in development of Nextpower products and generate full understanding of Nextpower products; and coordinate with Nextpower’s Structural/Geotechnical Engineers in other regions to create and update structural and civil standards, specifications, templates, and design tools. Manage the schedule and review structural and geotechnical engineering consultants' works. Assist in the development of expanding the Nextpower Design Services team. 10% travel to domestic and international customer locations.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field, or foreign degree equivalent; and 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience and experience with MS Office. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field, or foreign degree equivalent; and 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience and experience with MS Office.

Position also requires 1 year of experience working with engineering standards, codes and other applicable state and federal guidelines including IBC, CBC, ASCE, and AISCE; and 1 year of experience with Lpile Software and AutoCAD.

Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.

SALARY:    $136,157 to $145,000 per year

LOCATION:           40 hours/week in Fremont, CA (telecommuting one day per week permitted)
