JOB DESCRIPTION: APPLE INC has the following available for Software Development Engineer Systems (REQ# 200659761) in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Research, architect, and develop complex software solutions for HomeKit accessories, including HomePod, Apple TV, and emerging smart home platforms. Drive technical strategy and roadmap planning in collaboration with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners while serving as a technical authority for critical architectural decisions that impact multiple product lines and millions of users. Partner with executive leadership, product management, and engineering directors to define long-term technical vision and drive cross-organizational initiatives spanning device platforms, services, and developer tools. Apply deep expertise in systems programming, distributed architectures, and modern languages including Swift, Objective-C, and C++ to solve complex technical challenges in real-time embedded systems and cloud-scale services. Lead the design and implementation of next-generation network protocols, security frameworks, and developer APIs that define industry standards and customer experiences across Apple's ecosystem. Mentor and develop engineering talent at all levels, establishing technical standards and best practices while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence throughout the organization. Serve as the subject matter expert for HomeKit architecture, providing technical guidance on critical production issues, performance optimization, and system reliability across multiple engineering teams. Represent Apple's technical interests with industry standards bodies, key partners, and the broader developer community while driving adoption of HomeKit technologies and contributing to the advancement of smart home industry standards.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $187,741 - $272,100/yr. and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
