TITLE: Systems Test Engineer
DUTIES:
Develop and execute test procedures for product prototypes, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements. Duties include developing and executing test plans and procedures for mechanical, electrical and control subsystems as well as complete system-level validation; designing and setting up test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for lab and field testing; conducting environmental, durability, reliability, and performance testing on prototype units; participating in brainstorming sessions with the design engineering team to identify concepts and designs for future products; performing and managing engineering work using CAD / FEA software to solve problems in mechanical / structural design, finite element analysis, design optimization, prototype generation, and fatigue analysis; leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of issues discovered during pilot testing; and performing system-level tests under real-world operating conditions at field sites. 10% domestic travel to test labs and field sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or foreign degree equivalent; and 4 years of mechanical systems and/or systems testing experience, including 4 years of experience in system-level product testing (mechanical/electrical/controls); 4 years of experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, load frames, and vibration tables; 4 years of experience with data acquisition systems and sensors such as strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermocouples; 2 years of experience with SolidWorks; 1 year of experience with FEA; 4 years of experience in mechanical failure analysis, including universal testing machines and environmental testing chambers; 4 years of experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment; and 2 years of experience with Labview and Matlab.
In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or foreign degree equivalent; and 2 years of mechanical systems and/or systems testing experience, including 2 years of experience in system-level product testing (mechanical/electrical/controls); 2 years of experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, load frames, and vibration tables; 2 years of experience with data acquisition systems and sensors such as strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermocouples; 2 years of experience with SolidWorks; 1 year of experience with FEA; 2 years of experience in mechanical failure analysis, including universal testing machines and environmental testing chambers; 2 years of experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment; and 2 years of experience with Labview and Matlab.
