Senior Software Engineer

Job Duties:  Work with the consumer team to help deliver key initiatives towards improving Glassdoor's consumer experience.  The team’s mission is to empower users by providing transparency and insights around companies and jobs.  Partner closely with Product to build solutions that meet business goals, creating new services to power our front-end consumer site, and collaborate across engineering teams and departments to solve interesting and complex problems. 

Solve complex problems and build scalable, high-performing systems, and create and deliver quality, maintainable code in a fast-paced environment based on an understanding of business and how engineering aligns with the company goals.

Engage in software development on large scale, high-volume sites utilizing open source Java technologies including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.  Work with relational databases as well as NoSQL technologies including Redis and Riak.  Build service-oriented solutions and RESTful microservices and apply GraphQL skills.  Utilize Java multithreading, concurrency, and memory management, and write both unit tests and integration tests to drive and deliver. 

Requirements: Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 3 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer, Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Associate or a related position. Experience must include:

  • Java and J2EE development
  • Database Design experience including SQL
  • XML, JavaScript, HTML or JSP
  • Full SDLC requirements gathering, planning & estimation, development & testing, and deployment
  • Design patterns and performance tuning
